ABOUT CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is committed to lifting up the poor and vulnerable around the world. CRS empowers communities to become self-sufficient with training and infrastructure. Active in over 100 countries worldwide, CRS can also provide critical emergency assistance in crises by acting directly or in partnership with organizations including Caritas.

CRS is led by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to manifest Jesus's calling to service and solidarity. CRS serves all people in need, regardless of their faith. And because CRS has a strong volunteer corps drawing from the active participation of the Church in the United States, 94% of revenue is directed to programs.

What makes CRS different?

1 / Serve all people in need, regardless of their faith.

We are all brothers and sisters in Christ. CRS is eager to work as Jesus’s hands and feet wherever there is a need.

2 / 94% of resources are employed directly in the programs they are allocated to.

Many CRS leaders and volunteers participate in other ministries of the Church, minimizing the overhead of CRS administration and staff.

3 / Support needy communities with infrastructure and education.

CRS works to reduce dependence on direct aid by leading communities to stand on their own. CRS develops the resources and skills to adapt to changes in productivity, natural disasters, and climate.

4 / Build partnerships and understanding of the local market.

Organize microfinance enterprises and trading partnerships that empower communities to take on projects they could not complete as individuals

5 / Respond quickly to crises all around the world.

Through its integration with the Church, CRS can partner with local groups overseas, such as affiliates of Caritas International, to enable those in the U.S. to give support to those suffering from a natural disaster or war with confidence.
