Join us to start the 50th year of the Rice Bowl fundraiser with powerful testimony from Doreen Kargbo of CRS Sierra Leone.

The Rice Bowl is the flagship event for Catholic Relief Services, and marks its 50th anniversary in 2025. CRS San Pedro is proud to welcome Doreen Kargbo, a senior CRS officer from Sierra Leone, to share the stories of those whose lives have been changed by the Rice Bowl initiative.

Ms. Kargbo is a native of Sierra Leone who has earned degrees in law from the University of East London and Fourah Bay College - University of Sierra Leone. With her background, she works to ensure the work of CRS is accessible to everyone. While Sierra Leone is blessed with natural resources and a productive climate, more than half of the population of 9 million people live below the poverty line.

Doreen Kargbo will share the significance of programs supported by the Rice Bowl from her experiences in Sierra Leone and with CRS worldwide.

"Guided by my personal conviction to serve humanity, I felt that I could make a meaningful contribution to the important work that CRS is already doing in Sierra Leone."

Solidarity with our brothers and sisters around the world is essential to guide and motivate our prayers and actions to where they are needed most. With the challenges faced around the world this year, we can make CRS and the Rice Bowl a source of life and hope around the world.

Even if you can't make it, you can fill out our contact form to stay in touch, or visit our actions page to find how you can support CRS and the Rice Bowl!
